As our Greek School has expanded, so has our Sunday School. One of our objectives for this year is to introduce our children to some of the basic prayers and hymns of the Greek Orthodox Church.
Older boys may serve on the altar as Altar Boys while the older girls may participate in our continuing Junior Choir.
We also arrange for monthly Communion Breakfasts for the children. The standard for receiving communion for children nine years old and above is to abstain from eating meat on Fridays and not to have breakfast on Sunday morning. The rules for the younger children are more lenient insofar as just a "smaller" breakfast than usual is required, in order to get the idea of future abstinence, and of course then to participate in our communion breakfast.
We ask that all parents have their children in church by 11:00 and sitting in the front pew for their special lesson from Father Jim. This is one of the most wonderful portions of our Sunday School program and is great learning experience for the children and adults alike.
